Who is Monkey?
"Toughness is in the soul and spirit."
Personality:
Monkey has a wit as sharp as her sword, cannot abide patience, and has a soft heart under her tough exterior.
She is vigilant, paranoid and always on her guard. She is quite maternal and protective, and craves equal adoration from those she loves. She is wise and seemingly all-knowing, and determined. She is virtually fearless.

Monkey in her Human form as Sora
History:
Monkey's history can be a little confusing. But the basic principles to remember is that she is based off Buddhism and the cyclical nature of life, rebirth and karma.
Her First Story:
Monkey was not always called 'Monkey.' In fact, her real name is Sora, which means to 'soar' in Japanese language. She originates from the Imperial Empire of China, specifically as one of the celestial stars in the night sky's. She was the daughter of the great Moon King. She was the most admired of the Celestials, and had the greatest potential for success in the Heavens. However, the Legend goes, Sora began to long for something more than what the Heavens could offer her, but was not entirely sure of what this was. Sora watched the mortal world from her place in the skies, and longed to know what it would be like.
It just so happened that one particular mortal, by the name of Hanzo, was causing some trouble for the Moon King. Naturally, her father commissioned his three daughters to descend down into the Earth and end the life of this wretched man who was becoming more powerful. Hanzo was a formidable warrior, and was gaining power which might've matched that of the Heavens. A threat.
So, down goes Sora, to the Temple where Hanzo would be searching for the final item that would complete his power. Sora left early before her two other sisters, and entered combat with the Warrior. However, Hanzo and her realised that, after fighting around and around, when they looked at one another - that something that had been missing was standing before them. Sora saw the compassion, the warmth, the humanity in Hanzo's gaze - and realised this is what she desired - not the cold and heartless ways of the Heavens.
Thus, the story of Sora goes that she spared his life and Hanzo declared his love eternal, and the two married and had their son. As a result, Sora gave up her immorality to be with him and create the family she wanted.
However, happiness was not to be theirs for the Moon King became so enraged he sent his two other daughters to slay Hanzo and rip out the eyes of their son - so he could return to the side of the Deities. In order to protect her son, if anything should happen to her, Sora imbued her spirit into a talisman, a monkey charm. She and her son had to escape, as the sisters attacked the fortress where they lived with Hanzo. Supposedly, Hanzo also perished that day.
Sora began to loose her memory, as during her escape she bashed her head against the bottom of a rock on the ocean, warranting a scar over her eye, due to the storm she had waded through. Sora owned a special instrument, that when played - emitted powerful magic. When she and her son landed, they built their home in a cavern atop a large cliff that overlooked the oceans.
One fateful night, Sora found her son nearly killed by her sisters - and she defended him, eventually perishing in her human form. She told him to take the talisman wherever he went.
Hanzo and Sora - the Realisation
Her Second Story:
This was when her spirit was entrenched into the talisman which became alive when her son embarked on his journey to retrieve the armour of his father, in order to defeat his grand-father. Monkey accompanied him, a tough and fearless guardian, in her monkey form. She did not tell him at first who she was, but eventually her son figured it out after their crossing over a haunted lake.
She, also without knowing it, met Hanzo - who had been cursed into a beetle samurai. It was here, that the two bickered like an old couple, and it was only when both were about to die from battle with her final sister, that they came to realise the truth. Monkey sacrificed herself so that her son could kill her evil, evil sister.
Her Third Story:
Reincarnated into the handle of a sword, Monkey found herself in possession by a couple - a Selkie couple. The Gods were not done with vengeance on humanity, despite the last happy ending and the re-establishment of the spiritual connection between the metaphysical and the physical. Now, angered at humanity's neglect for nature and dishonouring of their ancestors, the Gods gave permission for Mother Nature to turn her back on humanity and give them the deserving punishment. It seemed like she was not going to fulfil her role as Guardian of the Key between Heaven and Earth, for she was dropped one fateful night at the bottom of the ocean beside a shipwreck, where we owners perished. But, their daughter - Freya - the Chosen - did find her and took the dagger as one of her 'hoarder' items. Thus, Monkey was able to embark on her Third Story - as a Guardian, and that has been her sole function since. She has never made more than friends or acquaintances since Hanzo.
